UFC 109 fight card

It had been heavily rumored for quite some time, and today UFC.com has officially announced that UFC 109: Relentless will be taking place inside the Mandalay Bay Event Center on February 6th. The world’s biggest MMA show confirmed five bouts in all, including the main event between UFC Hall of Famers Randy Couture and Mark Coleman.
“Couture vs. Coleman is one of those dream matchups that fans have always talked about,” UFC president Dana White stated. “And when you consider that these are two of the greatest wrestlers turned mixed martial artists ever, and it’s the first time that two guys who have already earned their way into the UFC Hall of Fame are fighting each other, this is not only an intriguing matchup, but a historic one.”

Coleman was booked to fight Tito Ortiz at UFC 106, but was forced to pull out of the card due to an injury during training. It appears that the wheel is all healed-up and he’s ready to go.

Couture was last seen taking a controversial unanimous decision victory over Brandon Vera at UFC 105 last month. It was his first light heavyweight fight in nearly 3 years. The fan-favorite has respectfully requested this showdown for a while and it will finally happen under Vegas’ bright lights.

Here are the other fighers rumored to be participating in the show:

Preliminary Bouts:

Rolles Gracie vs. Mostapha Al Turk
Melvin Guillard vs. Ronnys Torres
Renzo Gracie vs. Matt Hughes
Demian Maia vs. Dan Miller

Main Bouts:

Matt Serra vs. Frank Trigg
Nate Marquardt vs. Chael Sonnen
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira vs.Brandon Vera
Josh Koshcheck vs. Paulo Thiago
