Affliction Trilogy Officially Canceled

Affliction Trilogy has been officially canceled, MMAweekly reported.

Affliction Vice President, Tom Atencio made the announcement, and multiple sources close to the event have also confirmed the cancellation. Fighters and managers were told of the announcement early Friday morning.

The event was scheduled to take place Aug. 1 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

Atencio did not say whether or not the event will be rescheduled for a later day. The VP gave little excuses or reasons for the cancellation, though Josh Barnett's failed test (resulting in a denial of his CSAC license) is sure to be a factor. Affliction's pay per view provider, Showtime, is also said to have played a large roll in the cancellation.
